It wasn’t until one fateful evening when I was scrolling through YouTube, watching some viral videos to pass the time, that I stumbled across an old Nike commercial featuring Michael Jordan. Watching him talk about how many shots he missed in his career, how he failed countless times, something clicked inside me. I realized that greatness wasn’t just reserved for a select few — it was about failing, learning, and trying again.
That moment was a turning point in my life. It wasn’t some magical epiphany, but a simple realization: if I wanted to be successful, I had to work harder than anyone else. I had to overcome my insecurities, put in the effort, and learn from my mistakes.
So, I decided to change my approach to life. I began working harder in school. I got a tutor to help with the subjects I was struggling with. I made it a point to show up every day and do the best I could. And I got my first job, working at a warehouse for minimum wage. It wasn’t glamorous, but it gave me the chance to learn about hard work and discipline.

My mind was constantly racing with ideas, from selling singlets and hats to building an online business.
The Rise of Social Media
It was during this time that I discovered the power of social media. I had been dabbling with Instagram, posting fitness content, and selling shout-outs to small brands. What started as a side hustle quickly turned into a profitable venture. I began managing Instagram pages, writing reviews for supplement companies, and selling advertising space.
This was the moment I felt a shift in my life. I was earning more money from Instagram than I had ever made working minimum wage. Then, one day, I came across an article about weighted blankets and how they could help people with sensory disorders and insomnia. Intrigued, I did some research, and I discovered that this was a product with incredible potential. The more I looked into it, the more I realized that there was very little competition in Australia. It was the perfect opportunity.
I decided to go all in. I used my savings of $500 to buy my first batch of weighted blankets from China. I launched a website, ran Facebook ads, and began selling the product. But things didn’t go smoothly. The customs process was a nightmare, and my stock was delayed for weeks. I had 400 customers waiting, and I was on the verge of giving up. But when the stock finally cleared customs, everything changed.
