Two dead, one critical following crash in Magna

MAGNA, Utah – June 22, 2025 – A devastating two-vehicle collision late Saturday night at a Magna intersection has left two people dead and another in critical condition, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The fatal incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 201 and 7200 West. Authorities report that a Ford Mustang, carrying two occupants, was proceeding with a green light to turn westbound onto SR-201 from northbound 7200 West.

At the same time, a BMW traveling eastbound on SR-201 failed to stop at the red light and violently T-boned the Mustang in the intersection.

Emergency crews arrived to find a catastrophic scene. Both occupants of the Ford Mustang were pronounced dead at the location of the crash. Their identities are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the BMW, the sole occupant of that vehicle, was extricated and transported to a local area hospital in critical condition.

The intersection was closed for several hours overnight as the Utah Highway Patrol’s crash investigation team processed the scene to determine the precise factors contributing to the collision. The roadway has since been reopened.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Further details will be released as they become available.
