Mansfield Man Convicted in Fatal Hit-and-Run of Young Mother
MANSFIELD, ENGLAND – A community is in mourning and a family is shattered after a 23-year-old Mansfield man was convicted in the tragic death of Alana Armstrong, a 25-year-old mother. Keaton Muldoon was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving in a hit-and-run incident that claimed Armstrong’s life last year.
The fatal collision occurred on the evening of November 26, 2024, when Armstrong was a passenger on an e-bike. The court heard that Muldoon, driving a Land Rover Discovery, pursued the e-bike before ramming it from behind. The impact threw both Armstrong and the e-bike’s rider to the ground. Armstrong sustained catastrophic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the collision, Muldoon fled the area, failing to stop and render aid. A police investigation was launched, and after a public appeal which included the release of CCTV images, Muldoon turned himself in to the authorities.
Initially charged with murder, Muldoon was found not guilty of the more serious offense by a jury at Derby Crown Court. He was, however, convicted of causing death by dangerous driving.
The court proceedings revealed the devastating impact of Muldoon’s actions. Alana Armstrong was remembered as a loving mother to her young child. The rider of the e-bike also suffered serious injuries in the incident.
In a statement, the lead investigator on the case described the incident as a “senseless act” that has left a family “utterly devastated.” While the criminal proceedings have concluded, the pain and loss for Alana Armstrong’s loved ones endure. Muldoon is currently awaiting sentencing for his conviction.
