Man arrested for attempted murder in Riverside County stabbing

Hemet Man Arrested in Connection with Daytime Stabbing

HEMET, Calif. – A Hemet man is behind bars on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon following a stabbing in the unincorporated area of Hemet on Thursday afternoon.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies from the Hemet and San Jacinto Stations were dispatched to the 45000 block of Highway 74 at approximately 3:06 p.m. on June 19, 2025, after receiving reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male suffering from a stab wound. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the victim identified the alleged assailant as 30-year-old Roman Neely of Hemet.

Following an investigation, deputies located and arrested Neely. A search warrant was subsequently served at a residence on Highway 74, where investigators uncovered additional evidence related to the stabbing.

Neely was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

The motive for the stabbing remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet released details regarding the relationship between the victim and the suspect.
