Father killed, son injured in stabbing at Brooklyn laundromat: sources

Brooklyn, NY – A late-night dispute at a Brooklyn laundromat turned deadly on Sunday, leaving a father dead and his son wounded after a brutal stabbing, according to police sources.

The fatal encounter unfolded at approximately 10:40 p.m. inside a laundromat located at 39 Neptune Ave. in the Brighton Beach neighborhood. Police say a 54-year-old man and his 19-year-old son became embroiled in a heated argument with another man. The verbal altercation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.

According to law enforcement sources, the dispute spilled out of the laundromat before the suspect allegedly brandished a knife, stabbing the father in the torso and slashing his son across the forehead.

Emergency services rushed both victims to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn. The father, whose name is being withheld pending family notification, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. His son was treated for his injuries and is listed in stable condition.

The suspect, described as wearing a dark-colored t-shirt and shorts, fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. As of Monday morning, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

Officers from the 61st Precinct are canvassing the area for witnesses and any available surveillance footage that may shed light on the moments leading up to the deadly attack. While police have not confirmed the relationship of the victims to the laundromat, some neighborhood residents have suggested they may have worked there.
