21 Displaced, Pet Lost in Mebane Apartment Fire
MEBANE, N.C., June 27, 2025 – A fire that broke out at the Stonebrook Apartments on Friday morning has left 21 people without a home, according to the Mebane Fire Department. The blaze, which is currently under investigation, tragically resulted in the loss of a family pet.
Fire crews responded to the scene at the Stonebrook Apartments early this morning to find a significant fire in progress. Firefighters worked to contain and extinguish the flames, but the damage has displaced a total of 15 adults and six children from their residences.
Officials have confirmed that there were no injuries to any of the residents or firefighters who responded to the incident.
The American Red Cross has been called to the scene to provide assistance to the displaced families. Volunteers are working to ensure that those affected have temporary lodging, food, and other immediate necessities.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and remains under active investigation by the Mebane Fire Marshal’s Office. The full extent of the damage to the apartment complex is still being assessed.
